Emerald Coast Utilities Authority Launches New Website with Improved Features and Accessibility

The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority has launched a newly redesigned website,

giving customers an easier way to access information, submit service requests and stay informed about

ECUA services.

The new website marks ECUA's first major redesign in nearly a decade, featuring a modern design,

improved navigation and enhanced accessibility. Planning for the project began in summer 2025, with

design and development officially starting in March 2026.

The redesigned website was built on the CivicPlus platform, replacing ECUA's previous website with a

more user-friendly experience while integrating with other CivicPlus tools already used by the utility,

including CivicClerk for board meeting management and SeeClickFix, which powers service requests

through the MyECUA app.

Among the improvements is a streamlined navigation menu that organizes information by service area,

making it easier for customers to find what they need. Service advisories are now displayed in a

prominent alert bar at the top of every page, allowing visitors to quickly view important notices.

Customers can continue submitting service requests through the "Submit a Request" button and explore

maps, tools, guides and community resources for managing ECUA services.

Accessibility was a key priority throughout the redesign process. The website meets Web Content

Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 Level AA standards and includes tools that improve access for all users,

including technology that converts PDF documents into accessible web pages and features that help

monitor ongoing compliance.

Another significant improvement is how customers can receive important updates from ECUA. Through

the new "Notify Me" feature, customers can sign up to receive updates about service advisories, news

releases, board meetings and community events. Existing MyECUA and CivicClerk login credentials may

be used to access the service.

The new website also offers enhanced features designed to improve the user experience, including a

more prominent News Flash section highlighting ECUA updates, an interactive calendar of meetings and

community events, and a custom animated dolphin that adds a unique ECUA touch to the homepage.

"As staff continue becoming familiar with the new system, they will keep refining the website and

looking for ways to improve the experience for users," said Maria Del Aguila, ECUA public information

specialist for digital communications and records. "Taking on this project was truly a labor of love for our

staff and our customers. My goal was to create a website that is easier to navigate, ADA compliant and,

of course, nice to look at. Gathering feedback from our residents and staff, especially hearing what they

disliked about the previous site, helped shape many of the decisions we made during the redesign. We

put a lot of time and care into making this a better experience, and I hope our customers enjoy the new

site and feel that it is a real improvement."

ECUA encourages customers to explore the new website and provide feedback as staff continue

enhancing its features and functionality.
