Pensacola Beach Boulevard Construction Resumes Sept. 14

Temporary lane closures and traffic shifts for the northbound and southbound lanes on Pensacola Beach Boulevard at the Bob Sikes Bridge Toll Plaza will resume Monday, Sept. 14, as crews perform necessary roadwork for the Pensacola Beach Gateway Improvements Project.

Work will begin Monday, Sept. 14 and will take place 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday, for approximately seven weeks. In an effort to minimize traffic impacts to the public, no lane closures or lane shifts will take place on Saturdays or Sundays. Lane closures and shifts will be removed by 5 p.m. each Friday and reinstalled by 7 a.m. on Monday. Work is expected to be completed by Friday, Oct. 30, weather and construction coordination permitting.

Drivers on Pensacola Beach should use extra caution and follow road crew instructions and posted signs when traveling through the work zone.

Work is being performed for the installation of the new toll gantry and its associated equipment as part of the Pensacola Beach Gateway Improvements Project. The new toll gantry will offer enhanced safety features, such as better access for emergency response vehicles, while also helping to reduce congestion at the entrance to Pensacola Beach.

If other roadway closures are necessary or work is delayed, another notice will be issued.
