Luppert Lone Candidate For SRIA Elected Seat; Wins By Presumption

Steve Luppert pre-filed in February to run for the elected SRIA seat. The elected position on the Santa Rosa Island Authority was established in 1983, and is a two-year term. Candidates must be registered voters, and a resident and leaseholder on Santa Rosa Island for at least 6 months immediately prior to qualifying.

The elected SRIA board member must remain a resident during the term of office. In addition, the candidate shall be in full compliance with his or her lease at the time of qualifying and shall remain so during the term of office.

The SRIA seat is non-partisan and is contested at the General Election.

Beach voters will not see his name on the ballot on November 3. According to the Supervisor of Elections Robert Bender the presumption is that the candidate has voted for himself, thus securing the position.

Current SRIA Elected Member Jeremy Johnson’s final meeting will be Wednesday, October 28.
