Escambia County Seeks Public Input on Pensacola Beach Bob Sikes Fishing Pier Rehabilitation Project
Escambia County is seeking public input on the Pensacola Beach Bob Sikes Fishing Pier Rehabilitation Project, which involves structural rehabilitation of the Bob Sikes Fishing Pier to ensure public safety, resilience, and a long lifespan for the fishing pier.
The Pensacola Beach Bob Sikes Fishing Pier provides access to residents and visitors for fishing along the intracoastal waterway. Located on Pensacola Beach, the southern section of the old Bob Sikes bridge is next to Highway 399 or Pensacola Beach Boulevard. The project will include the structural rehabilitation of the pier, including rehabilitating 1,650 feet of the 1,750-foot pier and removing 100 feet of the pier that has sub-structural damage.
This project is being funded by the Gulf Coast Restoration Trust Fund. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-to-late 2026.
The purpose of this notice is to satisfy Federal requirements for construction in a floodplain, 44 C.F.R. Part 9.
